Job Description

The Assistant Team Leader of Produce is responsible for the exceptional execution of customer service by the entire department. They report directly to the Team Leader of produce and in his/her absence, they are to lead the team. They are responsible for managing department inventory, margin, labor budgets, pricing integrity, and merchandising standards. They will ensure all Produce Team Members receive proper training and supervision. Along with the TL, the ATL will ensure the highest level of execution in regard to ordering, receiving, unloading, storage, rotation, merchandising and building of displays.

Qualifications

  • Ability to model and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Must have a love of natural, organic and local produce.
  • Ability to lead by example and set clear expectations.
  • Must have vast produce product knowledge.
  • Able to oversee and train all proper rotation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and E-mail
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights,weekends and holidays.
  • Stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift loads, up to 50 lbs. unassisted, push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted

Responsibilities

  • Daily quality walks and quality of the overall department.
  • Ensure that each item on the floor has a sign and is in the system correctly.
  • Communication to each team member (product, seasonal changes, floor direction).
  • Model and provide exceptional cutomer service.
  • Effectively resolve Customer issues.
  • Along with the TL, will train, mentor and coach Team Members to succeed.
  • Must achieve maintain budgeted comps and margins for the department.
  • In the absence of the TL or as assigned, will inventory and order for the department and keep up to date purchase journals.
  • Must meet all deadlines in terms of invoices, purchase journals, scheduling etc.
  • Ensure all compliance logs are completed as necessary.
  • Must track TM time and attendance in the absence of a Team Leader.
  • Give feedback to the Team Leader in terms of performance reviews.
  • Effectively communicate with customer, Team Members and Store Leadership.
  • Ensure Team Member compliance of all relevant policies and standards.

Job Description

The Grocery Team Member is responsible for providing exceptional customer service. They will make sure the dry grocery, dairy

and frozen sections of the store are well stocked for our customer. They assist in receiving, storing and stocking of

products while ensuring proper rotation and quality. They will build displays, handle damaged product and maintain a proper

fronting of the department.

At Village Market all jobs require ensuring a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to

customers and Team Members always. All positions must be performed in accordance with team and store Standard Operating

Procedures. Further, Team Members must be prepared and able to perform the duties inherent in other Team Member job

descriptions. Team Leaders are required to spend significant time on the floor, engaging with customers, and pitching in to help

whenever and wherever needed. All positions must strive to support Village Market values and goals.

  • Follow all back stock and top stock procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized back room.
  • Effectively communicate with customers
  • Follow downtime task list
  • Making sure that we are using common curacy when stocking shelves and always being alert of our surroundings to ensure our customers and have a safe and enjoyable shopping experience.
  • Retrieve shopping carts when necessary

Qualifications

  • Must be a Passionate Chef, with creative ideas.
  • Ability to lead by example and set clear expectations.
  • Able to oversee and train in all areas of kitchen management including proper rotation and labeling, and food safety and sanitation.
  • Responsible for using solid cooking fundamentals and techniques.
  • Able to fill-in where needed to ensure service, food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Able to ensure that all equipment is kept clean and in excellent working condition.
  • Knowledge of proper rotation principals.
  • Able to close the kitchen properly, utilizing the closing checklist.
  • Able to assist with checking refrigeration points to ensure all temp logs are filled out properly.
  • Able to stand or walk for extended periods of time, up to 4 hours without a break.
  • Must have exceptional organizational skills.
  • Must be able to bend and lift loads, not to exceed 67 lbs. unassisted.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

  • Responsible for achieving 90% or higher average on all Mystery shop scores.

  • Must meet all deadlines in terms of invoices, purchase journals, scheduling, etc.
  • Wear a cut glove.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized workstation.
  • Maintain all compliance logs.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of food produced.
  • Holds Team accountable.
  • Ensure all food safety procedures are properly followed.
  • If needed, create and work through order guides to properly order for department.
  • Manage inventory on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Work with Executive Chef on menus, new items, recipe building and costing of items.
  • Maintain pars while ordering.
